NEW YORK — Grand Valley State wideout Charles Johnson was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The Packers selected the 6-foot-2, 215 pound wide receiver with the 10th pick (216th overall) in the draft’s final round. Johnson worked his way into the draft thanks to an incredible pro-day at GVSU last month.
After guaranteeing that he would run a sub 4.4 time in the 40-yard dash, Johnson put all 23 NFL teams that sent scouts to the combine-like event on notice with a 4.38 time on his first 40-run. Then he showed it wasn’t a fluke when he ran a 4.35 on his second and final run.
The Elsmere, Kentucky native also had a vertical leap measured at 39.5 inches and his broad jump was marked at 11.1 feet.
Johnson spent two seasons with the Lakers after starting his college career at Eastern Kentucky. He racked up 128 receptions and 31 touchdowns in his two years at Allendale.
