HOUSTON — The Grand Rapids Griffins played their first playoff game since 2009 Friday night in Houston. They’re still looking for their first postseason goal in four years.

The Griffins were shutout by the Houston Aeros 3-0 in game one of their best-of-five Western Conference quarterfinal series. Houston scored twice in the second period and added an empty-netter in the third period.

Petr Mrazek got the start for Grand Rapids and stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced. The Griffins and Aeros will play game two of their series Sunday night in Houston at 6:05 p.m. ET. Games three and, if necessary, four and five are slated to be played in Grand Rapids.
