GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Firefighters extinguished a fire in a hi-lo at a Padnos warehouse on Grand Rapids’ southwest side Friday night.

At about 10 p.m., the Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the Padnos building at 601 Lettellier St. SW, near Emperor Street SW, that had been noticed by a passer-by. Firefighters arrived at the scene in one minute, beating the building’s smoke alarms, and extinguished a fire on a hi-lo in another two minutes.

An employee opened the warehouse up for the arriving firefighters.

The building was unoccupied at the time and the cause of the fire is unknown.

The only damage was to the hi-lo and the warehouse was not damaged.
