THREE RIVERS, Mich – The Three Rivers Police Department has released a surveillance image of an armed robbery suspect that’s tied to an investigation that spans 3 states.

Around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday night, a man walked into the BP Gas Station at 715 West Michigan Avenue armed with a handgun.  Police say the suspect bound the clerk’s hands and feet, then stole cash from the register, along with the clerk’s cell phone and car keys.

The stolen vehicle was later spotted heading westbound on the 80-9o toll road near the Illinois border by an Indiana State Trooper.  The Trooper gave chase until the pursuit crossed state lines into Illinois.  The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned on the Chicago Sky Bridge.

Investigators believe the suspect may have used the stolen phone to call 911, a false call to lure police away from the area he was in.

The suspect is still on the run tonight, described as the following:

  • 6’0″
  • Heavy build
  • Dark colored jacket
  • Head and face covered with hood/mask
  • White or light colored sweat pants with dark stripe down the legs
  • Dark colored gym shoes
  • Wearing Gloves
  • Also in possession of a pink colored umbrella

The armed robbery happened in a high traffic area, leading police to believe he may have visited other businesses in the area of the gas station prior to the armed robbery.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Three Rivers Police Department at 269-278-1235 or Central Dispatch at 269-467-9045.
