West Mich.- The flood waters certainly look dirty but are they actually dangerous? The health department says they know the water is contaminated.
Fox 17 sent samples from along the Grand River to a lab for testing. The health department plans to do the same later this week but they are already anticipating the results. The Kent County Health Department says they expect to find E. coli along with salmonella in the Grand River and it’s flood waters.
As of Monday, there is a no contact advisory ordered for the Grand River and it’s flood waters until further notice.
Grand Rapids City Drinking Water has been tested and cleared but if you’re even mildly concerned about your well water it’s recommended you get it tested. You can pick up a vile at your local health department.
