GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Heavy rains caused some major flooding in a busy intersection of Kent County during the evening commute.
Three drivers had to abandoned their vehicles in high waters after getting stranded.
“I didn’t notice the puddle because my glasses were fogged and I checked my phone to see if my daughter called and then all the sudden I heard a pshht,” said Amy Harris, who got stuck on Division Avenue near 28th Street in Grand Rapids.
She and her son knew they had to get out quickly as the water started to rise around them.
“I though we were going to die,” said 10-year-old Jaylen Harris.
Mom and son escaped as the water poured into their vehicle. They were soaked, but made it to safely to a nearby business to call for help.
The three cars were partially underwater and abandoned.
Grand Rapids Police have the intersection shut down.
