WYOMING, Mich — Javonte Higgins is scheduled in court Wednesday, for charges unrelated to the killing of David and Vivian Bouwman.
Higgins is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. in a case of auto theft, home invasion and fleeing police. He was in a crash involving a stolen truck in December, weeks before David and Vivian Bouwman were found dead at their home. Preliminary hearings are subject to change, so stay with FOX 17 for updates.
Police said Vivian and David Bouwman were killed at some point during a home invasion, and the 22-year-old Higgins has a lengthy criminal history that stretches back to 2004.
Higgins’ parents live only blocks away from the Bouwman home.
