Tuesday Forecast: A Pleasant Afternoon Break, But More Rain Ahead

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Despite another dose of rain around West Michigan Monday night, Mother Nature will give the area a brief break during the day Tuesday.

Rain showers will exit the southern portions of the FOX 17 viewing area early Tuesday morning, with dry conditions expected for the rest of the daytime.  Some sunshine will also return for most of the area, allowing temperatures to climb into the mid 50s for most locations.  Temperatures will likely stay cooler along the lakeshore and north of Grand Rapids.

The reprieve will be short-lived, as clouds and possibly a few showers may return especially south of Grand Rapids by Tuesday night and early Wednesday.  Rain will likely become more widespread by late in the day Wednesday, with rounds of heavy rain expected from Wednesday night through Friday morning.

Some computer forecast models indicate as much as two to five inches of rain possible.  That amount of rain would surely lead to another round of significant flooding around West Michigan late in the week.
