COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — Fire crews remained on the scene of a golf course fire late into the evening Wednesday putting out hot spots in the building.

Flames were spotted at the Alpine Golf Club by someone driving by late Wednesday.

When firefighters arrived, flames were already pouring out of the clubhouse.

The roof areas posed a bit of a challenge.

“We’ve been through the whole building but there’s still some hot spots in the building. It’s a tougher fire because there is quite a few different roof areas we have to take care of,” said Mike Lasko, Deputy Fire Chief of Alpine Township.

Owner Jerry Aamis said they had just wrapped up an extensive remodel inside. They were scheduled to open Thursday at noon.

Fire investigators will try to determine a cause of the fire Thursday.

Although there was remodeling going on at the time, they still aren’t sure yet what caused the fire or where it started.
