AUBURN HILLS, Mich — Chrysler announced Tuesday its best monthly sales since December of 2007.

The March numbers give the automaker 36 consecutive months of year-over-year sales gains. March of 2013 marks a 5 percent increase compared to March of 2012.

Of the various Chrysler brands, the Ram Truck gained the most sales, increasing by 24 percent.

“With our 5 percent sales increase in March, Chrysler Group has now achieved year-over-year sales gains in every month for the past three years,” said Reid Bigland, head of U.S. sales, in a media release.

The Dodge Dart compact car, Dodge Avenger mid-size sedan and Dodge Challenger muscle car each set all-time sales records in March.
