Muskegon Students Pepper Sprayed During Cafeteria Fight

MUSKEGON, Mich. – Ten students are in police custody following a large fight that broke out during lunch hour at Muskegon High School.

The school superintendent tells FOX 17 the students taken into custody were freshman and sophomore students.  It all started at around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday when two girls began fighting.  The altercation then escalated into a large fight in the cafeteria.

A liaison officer inside the school was on site when the fight broke out and pepper spray was used to get things under control, said the superintendent.  According to the school, nobody was hurt.

The school remains under lock down but parents have been arriving at the building on West Southern Avenue to try to pick up their children.

The school is currently reviewing surveillance video from the cafeteria.
