Cause Of Early Morning Fire Still Under Investigation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The cause of an early morning fire is still being looked at by the Grand Rapids Fire Department. At 2:37 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, a fire was reported at 713 6th St. NW.

When the first fire department units arrived on scene, they found fire in the front of the home and on the front porch of the duplex.  All 11 occupants were able to exit the structure.

Preliminary information indicates that the fire was discovered by an occupant of the home after being awakened by breaking glass.

The on-scene fire investigation is expected to continue through Thursday, March 21.

Initial damage estimates are valued at just over $42,000 for property and $9,000 in contents.

No injuries have been reported.
