28th Street Construction Begins Monday

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – Orange Barrels will be appearing tomorrow on 28th street. Monday marks the beginning of a major reconstruction project for 28th Street (M-11) in Grand Rapids, Kentwood and Cascade Township.

The project goes from I-96 to Breton Avenue at a cost of 9.75 million dollars. This project will last about 8 months till mid to late November.  There will be one lane open in each direction at all times during the project

MDOT suggests to give yourself extra time or find an alternate route around the project and expect major delays on that stretch of roadway.

The last time this stretch of 28th Street was a construction zone was back in 2007, when Breton Road to the Beltline got a single layer of blacktop.
