ALLENDALE, Mich. — Charles Johnson talked the talk. Then he walked the walk, or more like ran the run.

After guaranteeing that he would run a sub 4.4 time in the 40-yard dash, Johnson did just that at the GVSU Pro Day in Allendale on Monday. On his first 40 run, Johnson put all 23 NFL teams that sent scouts to the combine-like event on notice with a 4.38. Then he showed it wasn’t a fluke when he ran a 4.35 on his second and final run.

The Elsmere, Kentucky native was measured at 6-feet-2 and weighed 215 pounds. His vertical leap was measured at 39.5 inches and his broad jump was marked at 11.1 feet.

Johnson spent two seasons with the Lakers after starting his college career at Eastern Kentucky. He racked up 128 receptions and 31 touchdowns in his two years at Allendale. Before today, some questioned whether he would be an NFL draft pick. After today, people are now just wondering what round he’ll be drafted.

Acccording to sources familiar with Johnson, the wide receiver had dinner last night with the New Orleans Saints and worked out specifically with the wide receivers coaches of both the Saints and the New York Jets today after running drills for all 23 NFL teams in attendance today. He is already scheduled to have individual workouts with two more NFL teams, including the New England Patriots.

You can seen some of Johnson’s highlihghts, including both his 40-yard dashes, in the video above.
