ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post were dispatched to a two car accident on M-43 near Fish Hatchery road just after 10:00 p.m. Thursday night.
Officers say a Chevy Lumina was going west on M-43 when it crossed the center line. The vehicle collided head on with a Mitsubishi Galant that was traveling east.
Both drivers were trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated. The driver of the Lumina, 48-year-old Tonya Howe of Allegan, died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
