KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A police standoff that started with a domestic violence complaint has ended in Kalamazoo Township.
Officers were first called to the area of East Mosel Avenue and Riverview Road around 5:30 p.m. Monday evening. They believe the initial call was made from a vehicle in that area.
The suspect involved in the initial complaint fled the scene and was later located at a home along Seville Avenue just a few blocks away.
Investigators tell FOX17 the suspect, a 46-year-old man from Kalamazoo, refused to come out of a residence along Seville Avenue, and made threats to responding officers that he was armed.
Investigators say the suspect has a prior history of violent incidents, leading to the presence of a Special Response Team.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody without incident at approximately 11:15 p.m.
The suspect will most likely be arraigned on Tuesday for charges of domestic violence and obstructing authorities.
Investigators say no weapons were recovered at the scene, and alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this incident.
