GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Police have re-opened I-196 westbound after closing it due to a crash.
Grand Rapids police had shut down I-196 at I-96 due to a crash farther down the highway around 10:30 am.
A special blocking vehicle and Grand Rapids Police unit blocked both lanes from I-96 to I-196, which forced drivers to continue on I-96 westbound.
The special blocking vehicle is a truck specially modified with arrow sign and extended safety bumper in the back designed to replace the fire units usually needed to block lanes to protect crash scenes.
