AHL Suspends Two Griffins For Brawl with Rockford; With Video of Entire Fight

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Grand Rapids Griffins and Rockford IceHogs pounded each other Saturday night, and today the AHL did the pummeling.

The American Hockey League suspended six players for their part in the bench-clearing brawl during the second period of the Griffins 11-6 win.

Griffins center Louis-Marc Aubry and left wing Triston Grant were both suspended for their part in the fight. Aubry got six games while Grant was suspended for only one. Both will begin their suspension with tomorrow night’s home game against the Oklahoma City Barons.

Rockford center Rob Flick was suspended six games while forwards Kyle Beach, Kenndal McArdle, and Wade Brookbank each were suspended for one game. In addition, Rockford head coach Ted Dent has been suspended for two games, and both teams were fined an undisclosed amount.

The fight began at the 11:58 mark of the second period.
