GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The blue pedestrian bridge may no longer be blue after Tuesday.

In December, the Downtown Development Authority held public meetings about the restoration of the Indiana Railroad Bridge, or what’s more commonly known as, the blue pedestrian bridge.

The DDA has budgeted $1.3 million to fix and repaint the structure.

One of the things the DDA discussed is whether they should keep the bridge blue.

At the meetings and online, the overwhelming answer was ‘yes,’ keep it blue.

People were also in support of replacing the street lights on the bridge with new LED technology, which would allow them to change the color of the deck for different occasions.

The DDA will reveal the changes coming to the bridge on Tuesday.

The DDA hopes to have the bridge ready by ArtPrize.
