A Michigan State Trooper was hospitalized after suffering a laceration to his leg following a foot chase in Otsego on Thursday.

It happened while two Troopers assisted an Otsego City Officer with an arrest warrant for a 34 year old Plainwell man living in Otsego.

When they showed up to the suspect’s home, the 34 year old man ran of the back door of the resident, leading to a foot chase.

One of the Troopers cut his leg on an unknown object during the foot chase, but proceeded to chase the suspect until the 34 year old ran into the side of an eastbound vehicle along M-89 while trying to cross 5 lanes of traffic.

The suspect was knocked to the ground and apprehended by the injured Trooper.

The suspect refused medical treatment at the scene and was lodged at the Allegan County Jail.

The Trooper injured during the chase was treated and released from a local hospital.

The suspect now faces additional charges including resisting and obstructing police.
