Holland Police Looking for Gunman

HOLLAND, Mich.– Police in Holland are looking for the man they say shot two people during a fight and ran away. It happened around 3:45 Tuesday morning.

According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, there was a call of a fight near a home in the area of 17th and Central Avenue.

Based on an initial investigation, police say it appears that individuals got involved in a physical altercation after an exchange of words. One man left but returned a short time later with more individuals. Others from the home also came out to confront the approaching group.

Officers say one man from the approaching group pulled out what was believed to be a small-caliber hand gun and fired it. A 37-year-old Holland man was hit in the leg and a 28-year-old man, also of Holland, was grazed on the shoulder. The approaching group then ran from the area.

The 37-year-old was treated and released from Holland Hospital, the 28-year-old declined any treatment for the superficial injury.

The only description police have of the suspected shooter is that he is a light-skinned man, heavy-set, approximately 5’07” and was last wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
