MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 44-year-old mail carrier is in critical condition after his vehicle was struck by a tow truck.
The crash happened at about noon on Monday, Dec. 31 when the 21-year-old tow truck driver allegedly blew through a stop sign at the intersection of Derby and Fleck roads.
The tow truck driver was heading northbound on Derby Road when he hit the mail carrier who was driving eastbound on Fleck Road.
Officials said the driver of the mail truck was on his route and was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred. He was transported by Aeromed to Grand Rapids for treatment.
The driver of the tow truck was not injured.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
