GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Michigan blood his hosting their “Save a mate. Donate” campaign to ring in the new year.
The organization is hoping to gain more donors this holiday season.
“Because we don’t have blood drives on Christmas and New Year’s Day, we lose two days of donations,” said Jim Childress, Vice President of Community Relations at Michigan Blood. “We will need to give the blood supply a boost so we can keep it at a safe level as we start 2013.”
Michigan Blood will give out a $10 Outback Steakhouse gift card to anyone who donates during the “Save a mate. Donate” campaign.
Those interested can donate at the main donor center located at 1036 Fuller Ave NE in Grand Rapids.
The dates and times for donation are:
Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Jan. 2 and 3 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Any healthy person who is 17 or older, weighing at least 110 pounds is eligible to give blood every 56 days. Blood donors need to bring a photo ID or two forms of non-photo ID.
