GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man has been charged for allegedly driving drunk Sunday, causing the death of an 8-year-old girl.
Byron Juarez, 21, was arraigned in a Grand Rapids District Court Wednesday on charges of drunk driving and causing death. He has also been charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
The incident happened at about 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Hall Street SW and Buchanan Avenue.
Officials told FOX 17 News that Juarez was driving a Ford Explorer when he allegedly blew through a traffic signal and smashed into a car that the 8-year-old passenger was riding in.
Juarez is being held at the Kent County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
