Leader of Steelcase Passes Away

KENTWOOD, Mich. — The longtime leader of Steelcase Inc. has passed away.

Robert Pew passed away Saturday in Florida.

Pew was inducted into the Grand Rapids Business Hall of Fame in 1990 for helping to make Steelcase one of the world’s largest furniture companies.

Steelcase released a statement on Twitter saying, “Pew valued integrity and gave everyone a fair chance.”

Mr. Robert C. Pew, II, is Chairman-Emeritus at Steelcase, Inc. He is on the Board of Directors at Steelcase, Inc.

According to the Wall Street Journal Pew served on the board of Grand Valley State Univeristy, Spectrum Health Regional Hospital Network, National Organization on Disability and many others.

He was 89 years old.
