ANN ARBOR, Mich — The Michigan Wolverines will be missing three players when they head to Tampa, Florida for the Outback Bowl.
The team suspended senior cornerback J.T. Floyd, senior linebacker Brandin Hawthorne, and junior punter Will Hagerup from the January 1 bowl game for violating team rules. All three will not be traveling with the team to Florida.
“It is an honor to play football for the University of Michigan, and we have high standards and expectations for everyone that represents our program,” said Michigan football head coach Brady Hoke. “These young men used poor judgment in each circumstance, and these suspensions are teaching moments for our team.”
Floyd started every game for the Wolverines at cornerback, taking on a key role when sophomore Blake Countess was lost to a season-ending injury in the first week of the season against Alabama. Hagerup leads the Big Ten in punting and was named the conference’s punter of the year.
