PORTAGE, Mich. – Portage Public Schools reports that Superintendent Ric Perry has been suspended.
The board of education began investigating reports that Dr. Perry had an inappropriate relationship with a district employee, the board determined that he violated district regulations and breached his contract.
Attorneys for the board and Dr. Perry were unable to reach an agreement to separate from the district, so they immediately suspended him with pay.
The board is moving forward immediately with a national search to find a replacement.
Rob Olson will be interim superintendent for the district. He has previously served as assistant superintendent since July 2011.
