State Troopers Bust Speeders For Drugs

ARTHUR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police (MSP) made a traffic stop after they spotted a vehicle going 83 mph in a 55 Thursday. Responding troopers were surprised to find a large amount of drugs.

The traffic stopped occurred in central Michigan on U.S. 10 near Garfield Road in Clare County, Michigan.

During the investigation MSP found a large quantity of cocaine and a .22 caliber revolver inside of the vehicle.

The driver identified as Lequan DeShawn Smith-Thimpson, 24, from Flint was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of cocaine, and being a habitual offender fourth degree which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

The passenger, Marquis Donte McClean, 20, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of cocaine, and being a habitual offender second degree.

Both were arraigned Friday in the 80th District Court of Clare County.

Thompson’s bond was $200,000, McLean’s bond was $100,000.
