SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. –

(Leigh Ann Towne Reporting)

Police identify Anne Daugherty, 60, of Three Rivers as the woman struck by a semi Friday evening.

The incident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Officer Tim Hulinek with the Village of Schoolcraft Police Department said a 60-year-old St. Joseph County woman was exiting her vehicle parked on the west side of Grand when she stepped out in front of a truck owned by Terry Fuller Farms of  East Leroy, Mich.

Hulinek said the truck driver didn’t see the woman because she was dressed all in black.

The semi truck was traveling south in the left turn lane of Grand Street. The bumper of the truck struck the woman. She was not run over.

The woman was not coherent at the scene, but was still breathing. She was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment and analysis.

The stretch of Grand (US-131) in that area was closed for about a mile as police investigated the scene. The Christmas Walk event continued without delay.

The driver of the semi will not face charges.

The roadway reopened around 7:45 p.m. Friday.
