GREENVILLE, Mich. – A stolen safe found with narcotics inside leads to the owners arrest.

Dennis Ortiz, 56, is charged with a felony for possession of controlled substances and running a drug house after police located the safe he reported stolen.

Officials were able to track down the safe on Monday, Dec. 3. According to police, Brandi Lynn Adams, 35, of Greenville, was found hiding in a basement with the safe on North Osmun Street.  The safe was open and loaded with cash and a variety of narcotics, including Vicodin and Oxycontin. Police then began investigating Ortiz and discovered that he was allegedly selling the medications out of his home.

When searching the home of Ortiz, police also found marijuana and three unregistered handguns. Investigators are trying to determine how he obtained possession of the handguns.

Although Ortiz is charged with a felony for possession he has not yet been charged with drug dealing.

Adams is charged with two felony counts of larceny in a building and safe breaking.

Ortiz is being held on a $10,000 bond.
