GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Grand Rapids Brewing Company officially reopens in a new location in Downtown Grand Rapids, December 5th. The restaurant now sits at 1 Ionia Avenue.
Dubbed as the only all-organic brewery in the Midwest, the brewery features 10 house-made organic beers on tap, along with hard cider and a selection of wine and spirits. But it’s owner, Mark Sellers, claims no one will notice a difference in taste.
The restaurant also boasts a menu made entirely from locally sourced, farm to table ingredients.
Grand Rapids Brewing Company is the latest addition to BarFly Ventures, owned by Mark and Michele Sellers. BarFly is the holding company for HopCat and Stella’s Lounge.
The original Grand Rapids Brewing Company sat at the corner of Michigan Street and Ionia in the 1890s. But, in 1918, it was put out of business because of prohibition. The brewery reopened years later on 28th Street. Sellers says he decided to purchase the equipment and the name after it went out of business, and wanted to bring it back to Downtown Grand Rapids, where it originated.
