COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police in South Haven say two people are dead after a fiery crash involving a car and a truck carrier.
It happened on northbound I-196 in Covert Township Friday night, according to South Haven Area Emergency Services.
We’re told the semi was hauling several pick up trucks and collided with a car and both of them caught fire.
The victims, a 72-year-old man and 70-year-old woman, from Bay County, Michigan, died of their injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
That portion of the roadway was closed for 12 hours while officials investigated.
