Detroit casinos report nearly $88M in revenue for September

The three Detroit casinos reported $87.9 million in aggregate revenue this September while operating at 15% capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Compared with September of last year operating at full capacity, revenue fell by 22.3% to $36.1 million at MGM Grand, 17.3% to 32.2 million at MotorCity and 27.2% to $19.6 million at Greektown.

Month-over-month revenue was up 26.8% compared to August.

When comparing aggregate revenue to last year, the $157.3 million was down 55.2%. Casinos were able to reopen on Aug. 5.

For taxes, the three casinos paid $7.1 million to the state, down from $9.1 million for September 2019.

Sports betting accounted for $4.4 million in revenue last month.
