HOLLAND, Mich. — Vice President Mike Pence and Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be making three stops in West Michigan Wednesday.

Both parties have declared Michigan as a key battleground state for a White House victory. In 2016, President Trump won the state by only 10,000 votes.

Pence will start in Portage, then head to Grand Rapids, and end his day with a ‘Keep America Great’ rally in Holland with Huckabee Sanders.

Pence will be meeting with local religious leaders as well as grassroots supporters of the Presdient’s reelection campaign.

The visits will be going on while the House Judiciary Committee on Captiol Hill holds a hearing on impeachment. Michigan GOP Chairwoman Laura Cox said Pence’s visit was not planned to distract from the hearing.

But the leader of the Michigan Democratic Party, Lavora Barnes says otherwise.

“People may want to say, they talk about the impeachment, the fact of the matter is, the Democrats are doing nothing," said Laura Cox, chairwoman of the Michigan GOP. "They’re sitting on their hands, they want to redo the election of 2016 instead of focusing on voting on things that are important to people across Michigan.”

“The president abused his power and betrayed his oath of office and I’d certainly want to turn attention away from that if I was the Vice President, if i was president," said Lavora Barnes, leader of the Michigan Democratic Party. "I think that these hearings are an important part of our process, I'm proud that Democrats are holding the President accountable while continuing to focus on the issues that are important to Michigan families, like health care and jobs and other issues.”
