KALAMAZOO, Mich. — After several hours waiting for a shooting suspect to come out, members of the Kalamazoo Metro SWAT team entered a home and the suspect gave up without a fight, reports the Kalamazoo Public Safety Department.

The sequence of events began around 10:45 p.m. Thursday when KPSD officers were called to a shooting on S. Westnedge Avenue near Wheaton Avenue. There they found a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm.

The suspected shooter had run off, but a KPSD K9 unit tracked him a few blocks to a home on Den Adel Court near N. Park Street. The suspect refused to come out for several hours.

Eventually, the SWAT team moved in took the 27-year-old man into custody without further problems.
