The holidays are a season for giving, and thanks to Greater Ottawa County United Way there's plenty of ways to give back to the community.

One way to help out people in the community is to donate money to the Help and Hope Campaign. For just $52, that will provide 208 meals or 13 days of heat to a family in need.

Donations can be made by going online or texting "GIVE" to 30306.  All the money will go the following nonprofit organizations who provide for the basic needs of people in Ottawa County:

  • American Red Cross – Ottawa County
  • Center for Women in Transition
  • Community Access Line of the Lakeshore
  • Community Action House
  • Coopersville Cares
  • Feeding America West Michigan
  • Four Pointes
  • Harvest Stand Ministries
  • Heritage Homes, Inc.
  • The Little Red House
  • Pathways, MI
  • The People Center
  • Ready for School
  • Salvation Army, The (Grand Haven)
  • Salvation Army, The (Holland)

Another way to have fun and give back is to attend the Holiday Benefit Concert. On Sunday, December 11 listen to performers like Ruth and Max Bloomquist at Seven Steps up in Spring Lake.

Tickets cost $30 for reserved seats, and $52 for reserved table seats. To purchase tickets, buy them online or call (616) 930-4755.
