LUDINGTON, Mich. -- Friday is the third day of deliberations in the trial of a man charged with killing his 4-month-old daughter.
The Mason County jury is weighing second-degree murder, manslaughter, or acquittal in the case of Sean Phillips. Phillips is charged in the death of his daughter Katherine 'Baby Kate' Phillips.
Baby Kate disappeared in Ludington on June 29, 2011, after her father drove off with her. She hasn't been seen since.
Phillips wrote a letter in prison to Kate's mother, Ariel Courtland, about leaving the infant in a "peaceful place." He hasn't said where that was.
Phillips is currently serving 10 to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment of Baby Kate.
