GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --  The 4th annual Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and 5K kicked off on Sunday morning at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids.

Nearly 4,000 women came together to participate in the two races being held.

All the proceeds from the event go toward a variety of organizations in West Michigan. Those include Kent County Girls on the Run, Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women, the YMCA and the Gazelle Sports Foundation.

The Gazelle Girl Run is dedicated to empowering women and is one of the largest female-only races in Michigan.
