ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- Middle Tennessee opened on a 15-2 run and Michigan State never led in a shocking 90-81 loss to the Blue Raiders in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in St. Louis.

The second-seeded Spartans were considered one of the favorites to win the national championship.

Middle Tennessee becomes just the eighth 15 seed to beat a two seed in NCAA history.

Matt Costello led Michigan State (29-6) with 22 points.
