Man arrested after short standoff in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – One man is in custody after a short standoff in Battle Creek Monday.

Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Chestnut at about 11:00am.  The suspect, who was wanted on other various charges, starting “causing trouble” at the location Monday and residents called police.

Police say that the suspect was known to carry guns and Fremont Elementary School, which is nearby, was locked down for a short time while he was taken into custody.

The suspect’s name and charges will be released after his arraignment.
