MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 55-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 89-year-old father in their Macomb Township home.
The Macomb County sheriff’s office says Gregory Nieman was arraigned Tuesday and ordered held without bond.
Deputies were called to the home northeast of Detroit Sunday morning after Nieman reported that his father was not breathing and cold to the touch.
An autopsy performed Monday found that Donald Nieman had been strangled. His death was ruled a homicide.
Gregory Nieman was arrested Monday. His next court date is Jan. 7.
He was not represented in court Tuesday by an attorney.
