OCEANA COUNTY, Mich. — One woman is in the hospital and another in jail after a hit and run incident that happened in the village of Rothbury Saturday evening.

Michigan State Troopers say that they were dispatched to a personal injury accident on Bartlett Rd. near Forrest St. around 6 PM Saturday. There, they found a 26-year-old woman from Rothbury who had taken serious injuries after falling from a moving car. Troopers discovered that the woman had been riding on the front bumper area of her friend’s vehicle.

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old woman, also from Rothbury, had fled the scene shortly after the incident. After interviewing with troopers, the woman was placed under arrest and was sent to the Oceana County Jail.

The hurt woman was taken to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon for her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but troopers say that they believe alcohol was a factor.
