Man killed after being thrown from truck during crash; wasn’t wearing seat belt

COOPERSVILLE, Mich. — A man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident late Tuesday night after he rolled his truck and was thrown from the vehicle. police say.

The crash happened at around 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of State Road and West Randall in Coopersville.  According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob Sampson, 29, was driving a Ford F-250 on State Road when he failed to stop at the intersection, lost control, and rolled the truck.

Sampson was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police say he was not wearing his seat belt.

The State Street entrance ramp to westbound I-96 was closed for a while as police investigated the crash.
