DETROIT — According to reports, Brad Ausmus is set to become the next manager of the Detroit Tigers.

Texas radio reporter Adam Spolane was the first to report that Ausmus is expected to arrive in Detroit on Sunday to finalize his deal with the Tigers. FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal is confirming the Ausmus hiring through a source.

This would be the first full-season managing job for Ausmus at any level of baseball. Ausmus did serve as Team Israel’s manager for the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Team Israel played three games in the World Baseball Classic, going 2-1.

Ausmus, 44, spent 18 seasons in Major League Baseball primarily as a catcher, including three with the Detroit Tigers. He was an All-Star with the Tigers in 1999.
