POINT LOOKOUT, Missouri – Davenport’s men’s basketball season came to an end Wednesday morning in the 1st round of the NAIA division 2 men’s basketball tournment as the Panthers lost a heartbreaker to York College (Nebraska) 78-77 in overtime.
Davenport (27-7) got off to a slow start in a game that tipped at 8:30 AM local time, York (24-8) led 30-21 at halftime and increaed the lead to 16 in the 2nd half. DU made a run to tie the game and send it to overtime, the Panthers even took their 1st lead of the game in overtime but York scored late to win it.
Davenport freshman Dominez Burnett scored a career high 28 points, JaVontae Ford (Forest Hills Northern) added 15 and Thomas Drew (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) scored 12. It was the final game at Davenport for seniors Gabe VanderJagt (Rockford) and Ryan Dame (Wayland).
