Local kids had the chance to shop with members of the Kent County Sheriff’s Department Sunday.
Over the past decade the department has taken over 1,000 at-risk children shopping during the Christmas shopping season.
Both participating stores had over 50 pre-selected children paired with members of the sheriff’s department.
Each child received at least $100 for necessities and toys.
The events took place at Walmart on Alpine Avenue and Meijer on Marketplace Drive.
The event was made possible by local businesses and community individuals.
