Hundreds of bikes lined the Mobil gas station on Alden Nash in Lowell this afternoon for a memorial ride.

64 year old David 'Dirtbike' Bailey was never in the military, but he was a Patriot Guard Rider for several years, who put countless miles on his custom made Harley Davidson. Patriot Guard Riders attend the funerals of members of the United States Armed Forces all over the nation.

Friends and Family rode about 30 miles from Lowell to Greenville where 'Dirtbike's' funeral was held. Bailey's wife rode together with his best friend who drove Bailey's Harley at the front of the pack. Bailey was diagnosed with cancer last year, and told he only had 90 days to live. His family says it was the Patriot Guard that kept him alive for more than a year.

"I really believe that what kept him going was his dream of someday, even this summer, coming back to riding with the patriot guard again," said Bailey's brother, Roger Crampton.

Bailey is remembered for his smile, his jokes, and his hugs.
