Wheelchair Accident: Driver Turns Himself In
A man accused of hitting a woman in her wheelcar with his car, then driving away, has apologized in court .

31 year old Jerry Donnell Pettaway Jr. was arrainged Thursday on a number of charges, including driving with a suspended license, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

On Tuesday morning, he was driving west on Franklin, then turned south onto Eastern. At the time, a 67 year old woman in an electric wheel chair was trying to cross the street. Pettaway hit the woman with a rental car he was driving and left the scene.

The victim was taken to Spectrum Hospital with a broken leg, but is expected to recover.

Later that night, Pettaway turned himself into police.

FOX 17 News has confirmed with the Secretary of State's office that Pettaway did not have a valid license, and has a lengthy list of driving offenses with the state.

Pettaway is expected to appear court again June 14th.
