WYOMING -
Wyoming cuts the ribbon Saturday morning to a dog park.
It took three years of planning, and it didn't cost the city a thing.
That's because determined people got together to raise $32,000 to build it at Marquette Park on Nagel Avenue.
"Spent hundreds of hours over the last three years going to park to park and learning all the ends and outs of things like regulations for a dog park," said Jim Elmer, a member of the group Citizens for a Dog Park.
Dog owners love this because it's a place where their dogs can run free.
"This is amazing. We've been waiting a lot of years for this. You like take the dogs out, let them run and play its good exercise for all the dogs, said dog owner Kendra Vanslyke.
But before a dog can come here it has to be registered with the city.
"It's nice too that they've made sure that everybody's vaccinated. Everybody's licensed and up to date on things, so you don't have to worry about the spread of the diseases that dogs can spread," said Vanslyke.
The park will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. You don't have to live in Wyoming to use the dog park. Its $12 a year for those who live in the city, $ 24 a year for those who don't. To register your dog call the city of Wyoming at (616) 530-3164.
