KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP -
A Portage woman is hospitalized in serious condition after a car struck her at the border of Comstock and Kalamazoo townships early this morning.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department was called to South Sprinkle Road near Lake Street at 1:25 a.m. Today. A car driven by Anna Diaczenko of Kalamazoo had been traveling southbound on Sprinkle Road when it struck a pedestrian who walked in front of the vehicle.
Melissa Newnum of Portage was transported by Pride Ambulance to Borgess Hospital where she is listed in serious condition.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department or Silent Observer.
